I have a 1950x 512 Agp Sapphire, 3.4ghz Pent 4, 1gig ram, raptor 10,000 rpm hard drive, 480Watt, open 8x motherboard, latest 7.7 drivers, and have recently used 3Dmark06 to get my score and it was supprisingly low compared to other scores, I got a 2736 score, and that was when I had put the card on Optimal Performance. Anyone know what I could do to use the full performance of this awesome card. Please Help!!

you are being bottle necked imo on the processor..But I'm not sure about AGP anymore...I'd belive that is a limiting factor as well...My x700 pro got 1148 in 3dmark 2006 with a 3.2 prescott...My x700 pro is a PCIE card though. But yea...I'd bet that it's your processor and agp interface..

dang, I was hoping the processor wasn't going to be a factor, but makes sense, thx

What's your SM2.0/3.0/CPU score?

Reply to vonwombat

i was running the trial version, the only thing I remember as my CPU score was that it was on the average compared to others, my video card score was at the bottom, but I tried to log back onto 3d mark to look for it, but the results are already gone, srry I couldnt tell you.

Reply to Butthead75

k i ran 3d mark again, and these where the scores you asked for.
Sm 2.0 1656
Sm 3.0 1604

Has nothing to do with the AGP interface. Only the newest generaton of cards like the HD 2900 XT are finally making use of the extra bandwidth PCI-E allows. See link below. Both PCI-E and AGP X1950 Pro's are compared and they are basically dead even on similar setups ........

I had 3 different X1950 Pro's and my 3DMark06 score varied from 4200-4500 depending on how much I overclocked the card. My CPU was a 3700+ Athlon 64 It sound like something is wrong with your setup. What is the make and model of your PSU? I've heard more than one X1950 Pro owner say that they replaced the power supply and their performance took off. Normally if your PSU does not have enough juice to power your rig random reboots or artifacts may happen, sometimes underpowering the card, produces underpowered benchmarks without any other indication that there is a problem. You may also want to re-install your motherboards chipset drivers.

believe me ppl will tell you :P

Well the CPU isn't exactly top notch, but that scores are still too low, both the CPU score and the shader score. It might be your PSU as people suggest.

there are quite a few good makes, so just give us a list of what you may consider getting and we will point out which would work best in that list.

A P4 is going to hold you back alot in 3dMark 06. 3dMark06 is more of a system test than a video card test.

If you want to see how the video card is performing, try 3dMark 05. That'll be a much more useful number.

Still, am E4400 core2 can be had for like £80 now and overclocked past 3ghz on like a basic after market cooler.

Why would you care so much about 3dmark socres? In the end it's only important that the games you play do play fine.

If you are thinking of upgrading an 3GHz overclocked Conroe is about 2x faster than and 3GHz pentium and thats per core.

Reply to NaDa

Well it says it supports both types of motherboards and I have power connection converter cables that ATI provided for me, but its the Xfinity 600 watt, it looks tight. lol, But my bro had a discount at dell and he picked up 2 gig pack PC3200 for basically free, so we are putting this mess together in a week or two. but we both think its the power, NOT ENOUGH JUICE. But we will see, I might have to throw it away. JP. I"ll keep you guys posted on the success, thx for all the advice and your RIGHT NaDa, it only matters if the game plays good, and with the 1950X 512 my games run like dream boats. LOL. Talk to you soon!!!! GOTTA get ready for Jericho and Unreal 3 WOOT!!!
