Ok, I am new to OC and here is what I have done so far

New to overclocking. My rig:

6850 G0 + Arctic Freezer
Gigabyte P35C-DS3R
4GB Buffalo 5-5-5-18 C5 memory
eVga 8800 GTS 320

Robust Graphics Booster = Auto
CPU Clock Ratio = 9x
CPU Host Clock Control = enabled
CPU Host Frequency = 400
PCI Express Frequency = 100
CIA2 - Disabled =
System Memory Multiplier(SPD) = 2.00
Memory Frequency - 800
High Speed DRAM DLL Settings - Option1
DRAM Timing Selectable = Manual

ACT to ACT Delay TRRD = Auto
Rank write to read delay = Auto
Write to precharge delay = Auto
Refresh to act delay = 0
Read to precharge delay = Auto
TRD = Auto
TRD Phase Adjust = Auto
Sys voltage control = Manual
DDR2 over voltage control = +0.3v
PCI-E over voltage control = normal
FSB over voltage control = Normal
(G)MCH over voltage control = Normal
CPU Voltage Control = 1.2875

I'd like to know if these setups sound about right or should I change other stuff ? For now I am not looking for the highest OC possible

Also what is weird is when I run CPU-Z it says that I am running 6 x 400 but when I boot my rig, it displays a 9 x 400 for a 3.6 Ghz frequency. I read somewhere that it might have to do with Intel Speedstep and that it should be turned off but I can't seem to find it in my BIOS.

Any help would ge greatly appreciated

It's CE1 in the BIOS, however as soon as you stress it will jump to the 9 multiplier. You might need more voltage on the CPU...set it to the VID. Put it through an Orthos test, use LRG FFTs. If it quits right away, you'll need more CPU voltage (2-3 steps up). Quits a few hours later then 1 step. When you get past 400 mhz and close to 450 mhz on the FSB you might need some more voltage on the MCH, FSB. Remember adjust your ram to be close to 800mhz for now (if it's PC6400). Get your CPU clock first. Adjust slowly and stress more. Download CoreTemp and Orthos. 600 mhz shouldn't be a problem.

600MHz I heard will fail as the motherboard won't go that far. Bottleneck comes in at over 500MHz.
I'm very stable with 466MHz at the moment.

We have similar settings, but you'll need to put your Cpu Volts to 1.4
Find out default RAM Volts, dont' go over 2.4V... it'll be best to keep at about 2.2V - 2.4MAX~~~

You mean bring down the multiplier? I think 6850 default multiplier is 9 right?

I have no idea, I'm using 6750. But I'm sure with similar setting it'll work.
Multiplier is 9.
CPU Host Frequency @ 466
466 x 9 = 4194... near 4.2ghz

I am not trying to reach the highest OC here, I am happy with 3.6 which shouldn't be a problem for the rig I am running and yes the default multiplier for the 6850 is 9. Whenever I'll get a 9 x 400, I'll be content. BTW, I am running Vista 64 and it doesn't seem to like coretemp one bit but I'll be using speedfan with the proper adjustments.
