My system won't boot up if I install all 4bg of corsair of memory. I have 4 sticks:
A pair of
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400

and a pair of
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400PRO

Q6600 CPU (NOT OC) and Asus P5N32-E SLI running windows xp 32bits.

Motherboard has the latest bios. They are properly installed. It boots up if I have one pair in there. If I put two pairs, I do not see anything, (monitor not showing anything)

Please help.

Go into BIOS and increase the memory voltage to the RAM mfg. specification, 2-0-2.1 volts, save and exit and shut down. Install the second pair of DIMMS and reboot.

It's not an Nvidia chipset is it by any chance?

Edit: Yep, it is.. there's a good deal of reports that the 650 and 680, mainly the 680, doesn't work with 4 GB of memory. I don't know the exacts of it, but have just avoided those chipsets myself for that reason. You won't be able to use the whole 4 GB anyway with a 32 bit operating system.

There's actually a warning about this on the NewEgg customer reviews:

Other Thoughts: I have this mobo for 6 months and have been constantly having instantaneously shut off with no power problem. Asus has frequent BIOS update for this mobo every 20 days now, I kept updating BIOS but no help at all. I have 4GB (4 x 1GB) Corsair TWIN2x2048-6400C4D modules and this is the combination of doom. Search google for "TWIN2x2048-6400C4D p5n32-e sli" and you will read all people out there suffering problems with, shut off, no boot, BSOD, etc issues. I just ordered EVGA 680i SLI from newegg, hope it is going to stop this insanity.

Here's another:
The boards were NOT able to run 4 gigs of ddr 800 memory which is a common problem for all 680i motherboards.

I read 5 more like that on the same page and decided to stop.

4 DIMMs on 680i and 650i is fine if you set the bios properly. Boot with 1 DIMM and raise your NBv and the FSB VTT up 1 or 2 notches above the stock settings. Save and power off, install the other 4 DIMMs, and reboot. It may take a bit of tweaking but your board should be able to run 4 DIMMs. Also, make sure you set the RAM timings and voltage manually to the tested spex.

Upgrade to XP x64 or Vista x64 if you up the votage on the RAM and it doesn't work. Even if you do get into Windows, it won't reccognize all of the RAM.

I don't know whether your mobo supports 4gigs, but I gues s such a nice mobo should. I had the same problem with mine though with totally different hardware. The problem was the Command rate, you should set it to 2T. 1T always failed to post and I had to reset the bios. I was able to repeat this problem so the command rate was definitely the culprit.

Not necessarily. Lots of people actually "need" 4gb. And besides, he already has the memory so even if it is overkill, he wants to get it running.
