You can get a Corsair 620W instead of the hiper, you'd have a lot more quality. If you don't sli even go for the cheaper Corsair 520W PSU, it will be more than enough for a single GTX

I would keep the single GTX and get a p35 motherboard, like a GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R. The strikers are really hit or miss boards, they cost way too much for what they do. If you are thinking of going SLI later on try an EVGA 680i SLI motherboard.

If you are getting the raptor just for OS why not look into a cheaper 72GB version or even a 36GB it would be more than enough for your OS.

Lastly, the CPU is really up to you. If you have the money to spend on the QX6850 got for it, it's the best of both worlds, super fast and also quad core for future applications.

Get the QaudCore definitely , if u want SLI ,then keep the board , if not then get a P35 board ,
if u want both ddr2 and ddr3 : ASUS P5KC or GIGABYTE P35C DS3R
if u want only ddr2 , then get ASUS P5K or GIGABYTE P35 DS3R

also for 2x8800gtx , it depends on the resolution u play , if u play @ higher than 1920x1200 , then sli is worth it , other wise no

Not really sure about all USB cards and such, that motherboard has 6 USB 2.0 ports on the back, and 3 available connections for the front of the case. Your case has 2 USB 2.0 connectors as well as firewire and audio on the front panel.

Are you saying I have over thats what needed for the psu ie if I got the quad core and 2x graphics card
Sorry I will use the raptor for programes (Updated first post) I will use the second for other programes, the raptor can be used for the ones I use the most
I might go for the quad core, it willl last longer (I would like this to last 3years, with SOME upgradeing, until a build a total new system. The total cost for this system is £2,771 with the quad and 2X graphics card, is this a good price?
Why do you think the Evga is better the the striker, whats the difference?
Whats so go about the P35 (I know it does DDR3, but really would that make a big difference?)

I need these USB connections my idea is this;

The PCI USB card has an internal USB port (The card reader and USB HUB for the front need an actual USB connection, so I will install a normall 4 USB Hub inside somehow (problery will use strong double sided tape) which will unable me to connect it up has I need two USB ports, and only have an 1 internal usb port, I will also put the USB Bluetooth Adaptor for the bluetooth keyborad and mouse which comes with it, so I don't always have a adapter sicking out from the computer. Also the usb on the top of the tower I would not be able to use because where the tower will be.

Yes, The Corsair 620W would have been fine for one GTX, but if your getting two try Antec TruePower Quattro 850, if you can find it where you live. They are of much better quality than Hiper. If you're getting a high end system, it's not a good idea to skimp out on the PSU. You need strong steady power for those two cards.

I think the EVGA board is just more bang for your buck. The striker is good, but not that good. That board has had many problems and it costs way too much for what it does. I'd save some money and use it for something else. The asus board is hit or miss, some people get good ones, while others have problems with them. Their quality control needs to be better for costing that much.

I suggested the p35 if you weren't going to do SLI, since it has much more upgrade potential with support for 45nm cpu's as well as DDR3. It's just that with the new nvidia cards around the corner, I wouldn't really rush out to get GTX in SLI since the new cards are said to beat that. I would get one GTX or GTS 640mb and save the money off that to purchase one of the new cards when they come out.

I have the RaptorX 150GB drive for my OS and I would prefer to have either the 74GB Raptor 16MB cache or a Seagate 320GB SATA2 Perpendicular Recording Drive. I previously owned the 74GB raptor and regret upgrading to the X. I currently own the X and seagate, and i swear the seagate performs as fast as the raptor, plus it only costs $8X

When are the new Nvidia cards coming out then?, How Much?, How Much Better? Model Number? I might be able to hold back from building my system if it ain't too long.

It just my laptop is starting to have more problems yet again (Dell M1710), First problem was that the screen was damaged when I got it, Then I have had overheating problems (They changed the MB and GPU and some fans), Then the Screen started not to work a couple weeks after, it had nothing but a black screen, even the laptop turning on (They wanted to collected it, they didn't come, so I told them I wanted a onsite call, he changed the screen, which didn't work, the next day he came back and changed to GPU (I had NVIDIA 7900GTX, he changed it to Nvidia 7950GTX :D ), now I have a problem with the AC power, it keeps not noicting it, and now the warretty is over, they want me to pay for a new AC adapter, why should I, the laptop cost me £1700, and had nothing but problems, it not that I all of sudden got a problem, that is different, I have nothing but problems!, all ongoing :fou:

Never buy with Dell :fou: :non: :pfff: :fou: :non: :pfff:

Should I get SLI then, I will play it at 1080p resolution (1080 X 1200) or would the best 8800gtx ultra be better?

Well no one knows the exact date or price, but should be in the next 2-3 months. I suggest getting the system and get a card to hold you over, something cheaper, like the X1950PRO.

Don't get SLI since it's only a little better and the Ultra is really the same at the GTX, just a few FPS better. At your resolution even the GTS 640MB would be enough.

The new cards are said to be 2x times faster and better than the GTX, but we'll have to wait and see :).

I suggest getting the system now and just upgrading the Graphics card later.

lol no link sorry, I don't remember where I read that. In any way, though, GTX SLI isn't the end all be all, its better than one GTX, but for the price I don't think its really worth it. specially for that resolution. I'd get a GTS 640MB at the most and save up for the newer gen cards.

also what currentlly is the best motherborad that preforums the best? it don't want to use ddr3 they are too expensive at the oment and they have jus came out and they have high latency timings at the moment, which will get better after a while, so I will stick to ddr2. I don't mind the mb to support ddr3 but would this mmean the ddr2 will not preforum as good?

so whats the best ddr2 motherborad (can support ddr3, but will be using ddr2), by the soud of it, I don't need sli

Haha hey, I wasn't able to reply cuz I was sleeping :p.

Anyways, the size of your tv doesn't really matter, it is the resolution that is displays that effects the card's performance. Most HD tvs with 1080i have a resolution of 1920x1080, which the GTX will handle just fine. So pretty much stick with that. You wont need the Ultra.

The best motherboard for both is probably the GIGABYTE GA-P35C-DS3R. It supports both DDR3 and DDR2. The boards don't degrade the quality or performance of the ram, they work the same with both.

As for the Power, you'll need around 500W according to a calculator, so if you aren't doing much OCing 520W from a really good psu should do the trick just fine :).

yeah 1080p is the same thing and is supported by the GTX. The only different is p is progressive, so it gives you a smoother picture.

how to you select it for 1080p anyhow, when I connect my Dell M1710 to it throught a DVI to HDMI cable it just shows up 1080 X 1200 while is should say 1080 X 1200P when I connect it, to you have to select something somewhere llike the Nvidia control panel??

Hmm I believe it should display it without having to go through the Cards menu's. You can take a look at the Nvidia control panel though. It will let you pick your monitor and change the resolution. So you can play around with that.
