Could someone tell me what this means ?

On the one hand they say ...
"- Intel® Quad-core CPU Ready"

Then

"- Compatible with all FSB1333/1066/800/533MHz CPUs except Quad Core"

Ready .. but its not ? .. I don't understand.

I've seen multiple postings of people running that motherboard with a Q6600. All 680i motherboards support quad cores.

That last line on the specs is... just weird.

Maybe they list it like that so it makes you look more into the CPU support through the BIOS versions. While that seems kinda silly i got no other explaination

I know the user manuals are usually poorly translated, I wonder if the website is also? They might have meant including, not except. I know the 45nm chips are quad core, I'm sure this motherboard supports quads if it supports 45nm chips.

As far as I can tell, all it would take is the latest bios for the board from ASUS.It should support quad core as it clearly states that it supports 45nm technology.Goodluck.

Yes, I also bought a Gigabyte board (the P35 based DS4), because of that text on Asus website. Better be safe than sorry.

Hi guys, i think the "excluding" quote might be reffereing to the FSB + Quad CPU support.
Ie. Quad core works on FSB 1066MHz plus, and not below.
