So I put my new system together today; new parts are as is..

Foxconn P9657AA-8KS2H
Q6600
Foxconn 8600GTS
OCZ OCZ2P800R22GK 2GB Kit DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum Revision 2
Antec NeoHE 550
Thermaltake TR2-M21 RX

After getting everything assembled and installing XP I run cpu-z before any updates; straight cd install. Low and behold it shows these settings...
I'm using 1.40.5 of cpuz

What the heck is going on w/ the core speed?!?! It's flipping back and forth every few seconds.

So then i notice that the cpu, board, case etc is hot. The bottom of the case is too hot to even touch (80C + under load). So, I'm thinking it's the HSF and swap it out w/ the oem Intel and the temp goes down to low 50's, but the core speed is still whacked.

This one is OC'd to 2.5G, but still has the same problem.

If i right click My Comp it shows 2.4G and the boot screen show 2.4G.

Is this a bad C2Q?? It's a B3 if that matters.

Your power savings are doing that.

Its called speedstep by Intel and it chops down the multiplier to 6 and decreases the voltage and therefore heat the system makes when you dont need the power...and will bring it back as soon as u need it...

Dont worry about it....

If its that bad for you shut it off in the bios
