While surfing the rage3d forums, I ran across a thread detailing how to
softmod an 8800GTS to a Quadro FX4600. The softmodded Quadro
outperformed the 8800GTS in 3dmark05 and 03 (not sure about 06). It got
me thinking that the capabilities and driver support for Quadro causes
it to perform better on synthetic benchmarks, although it may suffer in
games. Currently the FX5500 is the best Quadro and goes for over $2300
each on newegg. I'm wondering if anyone's ever heard of trying to SLI
two of these suckers with crazy OCing on all of the components then
running some synthetics... It's an interesting thought and I'm bored. -_-

Yea, but... why? What benefit is a synthetic to you?

First spot holder of the benches on futuremark.com and geeky bragging rights. o.O For me, it means nothing but I'm sure there are lots of enthusiasts (and teams out there) trying to go for the gold.

Go for it then, if you got the money for cards like that you might as well use em.

A Quadro FX5500 is based on the G70; the card you're talking about is the Quadro FX5600 and has a price tag of $2700.

Fx5500 is a G71 Core, which is 7900GTX,7900GT
