I was planning to build a new pc that is dx10 capable.

Ive already bought;
Antec p182 case
Bfg 680i sli motherboard
500gb Spinpoint hard drive

At the end of the month i inted to purchase;

q6600 processor
2gb pc 8500+ ram, sli ready
corsair hx620w power supply

and i plan to use a x1900xt out of my current pc untill i can afford an 8800gtx.

Could someone plz tell me if this system will be good enough to run game slike crysis at high detail, and if not recommend changes. i know this sort of post is fairly common and i apoligise if a similar question has previsouly been posted.

Kind regards
Patrick

Well everything looks great except for the X1900 that card will run Crysis on all high settings. however, the game has been pushed back, so my the time it comes out the GTX should be pretty cheap :).

Looks good. If you intend to overclock add a cooler to the list , otherwise get PC2-6400 (DDR2-800).

Nobody knows what Crysis will need for high settings. I bet your x1900xt will be able to play it at some settings, but I can't guess if these will be the lowest, highest, or in between. It depends a lot on your resolution.

Crysis will be released in November, and the G92 cards in December. Get your 8800 GTX after the G92 is out, it should indeed become cheaper.

I think nvidia will discontinue the 8800GTX when the 9 series come out, like what they did with the 7900GTX

I doubt it will happen so soon this time. If AMD doesn't start competing again, then nVidia could make the G92 $1000 and keep selling the 8800 GTX for $500 until the end of 2008. Keep in mind that a CEO's priorities are: #1 shareholders, #2 his own bonus, #3 making customers happy. #1 and #2 would be much happier if they keep selling the 8800 GTX for $500.

does anyone know a good cooler for the bfg 680i, i was looking at the tuniq tower, but have read about problems mouting it due to electrical components on the back of the evga 680i board which is virtually identical to the bfg.

Does anyone know if this cooler will fit without modification to the backplate.
