Even after updating to the latest graphics driver for my Dell Lattitude laptop, I am unable to set the resolution to a widescreen resolution for use with my widescreen monitor.

Is there any hope of getting a widescreen resolution using something like a "powerstrip" utility that I've heard about?

you need to install the drivers from the dell website.

I did install the latest graphics driver from the dell website. Still no widescreen resolutions. This laptop is from 2002. Do I have a chance in getting this to work in widescreen resolution with my monitor?

what dell laptop is it, and what graphic chip does it use? There might be an option for enable widescreen resolutions in the drivers control center.

Did you uncheck the "hide modes this monitor can't display" box on the laptop's monitor screen? That could be preventing the rez's you want.

in cases like these, you need to install the monitor drivers *ya I know who does this right?

Within the monitor drivers are information containing (custom) resolutions that will be available to you.

Ok I tried installing the monitor driver (right clicked the .inf file and selected "install" ) and that didn't add any widescreen resolutions

Its a dell lattitude C610, with the latest graphics driver from dell, and the device manager says Mobility Radeon, by ATI technologies, driver date 2/24/2004

Ideas?
