It's a real testament to AMDs process improvements that they lowered the TDP that much. Those are still 90nm chips. I can imagine that by next year 3GHz Phenoms will be using 68W.

Can someoen just clear up for me, in gaming whats the difference between an opteron and an athlon x2?

yes. opteron is server chip, athlon is desktop chip
