Login Password

I have recently acquired an emachine from my grandmother and I want to set the computer up for my parents. However, it's password protected, and since she doesn't know the password, this is a problem. So, my question is how do I login into the account without knowing the password? Is there a way to by-pass it? If not, I guess I should just reformat the PC. Thanks for any information.

change the log on credentials..
boot into safe mode then change the name of user to administrator,
then try blank password so hit enter..
