Hi all and TIA for your info.
I want to access the Maxtor 6Y250M0 250GB SATA 3.5" hard drive in a PC that won't boot (not related to the hd or software). I'm going to replace the PC with a laptop. I'd like to put the hd in an external 3.5" hd case/enclosure and use it with the laptop. The laptop has USB ports and a Firewire/1394 port.

My question: What settings (master/slave?) should I change on the hard drive to use it in an external case and with the laptop? How do I change them?
...and since the laptop doesn't have a SATA port, are there cases that I can put it in that provide USB or Firewire cable hookups?

Kind Regards,
Leafgreen :hello:
