Uh whats the difference? I put them both side by side on newegg and couldnt really find comparison differences. It almost seems like the DS3P would be better but that doesnt make any sense.

Ever thought of going to the manufacturer's website?
Here is a comparison page"
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_ComparisonSheet. aspx?ProductID=2625,2532
Note that there are other flavors - such as P35T with DDR3 and several versions.
You should probably also read and compare the specifications for each - also easily available on the site - as all the differences may not be listed on the comparison table.

Thanks! I looked for awhile to try to find a comparison sheet on that website. I never noticed it was in the drop down.

Sometimes...........I should just not talk.

Ok I take that back..........comparison chart shows no diff between - P35-DQ6 and the P35-DS3P (both rev 1.1), which is the question I asked. Whats the difference other than 70$ on newegg? Is it jst 2 sata connectors different?

DS3: Safe + Smart + Speed + Durability Enhanced, 6 phase power (6 or 8?)
DQ6: same features as DS3 above + 'Silent Pipe.' 12 Phase Power, 4x eSATA

Took info from avsforum mb thread.

The Gigabyte page is currently being redone so I can't check the comparisons.

I agree with you...I purchased the DQ6 and I probably should have gone with the DS3P...

One more difference between the 2: the DQ6 has a copper back plate which may cause some problem if you go with 3. party cooler (better OC'ing?). The DS3 version does not.

That is not true. Tables show a difference in the thermal piping and heat sinks and in the number of SATA ports.

Is that the only difference between the S3 and DS3?

I'm looking for a new stable mobo, but don't need raid. The only requirement I have is that it has at least 2 x PCI-E, one for my graphics card, and one for RAID card.

i've bought DS3P and regret it... AS I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A ASUS INSTEAD....

the difference is DQ6 has silent pipe and DS3P does not... And they charge u more....

the same: both are faulty mobo... (please see my other post in Gigabyte.)

Probably a bad batch. Should be ok in time for November. Also, the moon phase just started waning there again. Might explain the wash of bad luck going about.

Sorry for your loss Cybersnake
