I'm getting my new system together, and have one last question (sorry, I'm a bit of a hardware noob)...

Is this asus barebone system:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16856110077

compa tible with this video card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814130085

I realize there's an ati card in the asus box already, but I need the dual output for 2 monitors. This system will run linux only. What should I be looking for in terms of compatibility?

Can I just disable the onboard ati card in bios?

Thanks for any help!

Yes, it's compatible. The onboard card will automatically disable itself once you put the 8600GT in and install the drivers.

I take it you are not aware that the ASUS M2A-VM mobo will support 2 monitors without adding a video card...
