When I play a game it goes up to 42c/107f. Just wondering if that's too high?

This is according to Asus Probe, so I'm not sure how accurate it is.

If you are getting that while stressing your computer with a game, that is very good. 42c is nothing in the electronics world, depending on what processor you are running, it could go much higher. If you ever start to hit around 60-65c, then you should start to worry.

Just to put things in perspective, your video card is probably up in the 50's to low 60's (higher if it is overclocked). Don't take my word as absolute, however, since I have little experience with Nvidia cards, so I can't vouch for them.

Is there a way to get the temparature of my Vid Card? I have geforce 6600gt. Probably not possible?

I haven't overclocked yet. I'm looking for some programs to change my settings.

Try downloading NTune and NVIDIA Monitorview(not sure if monitorview is a separate program or not, as Ntune can open it) to monitor temperatures. You can download it off of NVIDIA's site.

If its a core 2 system or Athlon 64 get coretemp to check your temps

For the video card i suggest riva tuner.

There is also a riva tuner plug in for core2's if thats what you have.
