Abit AB9 Pro can't boot from SCSI

Hi,

Setup is Abit AB9 Pro with Adaptec U160 SCSI adapter and a 15k Cheetah.

The AB9 refuses to boot from this device for some reason.

After loading XP on another drive and booting up from that, it seems that the SCSI drive only powers up / spins up once Windows has loaded. Which would probably explain why it's not recognising the device.

Anyone know if this is fixed in a later BIOS release or know of a workaround?

One idea I had was to buy an external HDD enclosure for it, since it has it's own power supply maybe it would be available at boot?

Was just wondering if anyone else had been having trouble with bootable SCSI devices and this m/b.

Cheers,
Cyne.

Ok had a lengthy e-mail conversation with Abit tech support who were very quick responding I have to say, so well done to them.

They suggested that it was likely to be a memory address and/or i/o port conflict with one of the 3 existing controllers.

I disabled all 3 and sure enough the card springs to life. Now all I need to do is find out which one specifically it is...

Hoping it's not the main SATA controller o_O
