Hi all,

I was wondering if it would make sense running games and other programs off of an external harddrive. I've been told that external HD's are ideal for video, picture, and music storage, but they do very poorly as far as running programs.

At this point, I just don't want to get a brand new internal harddrive at this point. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You can run games off an external drive but there is a performance hit(USB/Firewire).

If you can get e-sata the performance hit does not apply...

Best bet....store your files(even large movies will be ok external) on the external drive and games on the computers internal drive
