Need help with an Ultra 120

I have been building pcs for about 5 years now but never messed with OCing. I alway use stock Heatsinnk/Fan. I am going to OC my next project and I am going with the Ultra 120. My question is what type of fans should I get with this?

I was thinking about getting 2 fans and mounting them to either side. One will push the air while the other is pulling the air right out the back of my case.

I wouldn't go with the YS Tech fan. 45 dbA is loud enough to annoy you when that fan is at full speed.

SilenX fans are good/bad, depending on who you ask. Some people have good luck with them, some have bad luck. Personally, considering this fact, I don't recommend them either.

I would recommend Scythe SFF21F S-FLEX™ 120mm Case Fans (63.7 CFM/28 dBA) , which is exactly the same fan as tested in Anandtech's review of the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme . Another option that is popular with overclockers are the Yate Loon D12SM-12 120MM Case Fan - Black (70.5 CFM, 33 dBA) , which are less than half the cost, but yet perform very well.

As the Anandtech review has shown, it is not necessary to use 100+ CFM fans to get good performance with the Ultra 120 Extreme, especially if you are going to use 2 in a push/pull configuration.

I would NOT use a SilenX Fan, they are overrated.

You have to get a fan without a Tunnel.

The easiest things to get (imo) are Scythe. Either an S-Flex, Slip Stream, or Ultra Kaze.

Personally I use an Ultra Kaze 3000 RPM and a Rheobus to control it. I then have 130+ CFM whenever I need it and I can dial it in for my OC to avoid the noise.

i appreciate the fact there is better performing fans out there, i wouldnt use silenx either, bought 3 silenx case fans once & 2 of them made a horrible vibrating noise,
is 48.5cfm enough for an ultra120, i really like the zawards, especially the VERY BRIGHT blue led, ive got a zaward 1500rpm on my HR-03GT and its whisper quiet & never goes over 35/46

It depends on how high you want to take it... It's more about the static pressure it can create to force the air through the sink.

Just make sure it doesn't have a tunnel so you can use the clips.

if i can get 3.6 with 60 degrees load, i will be very happy,
might try 2 (push/pull) if no good they will make great case fans

60 CPU or Cores?

I hate to break this to you, but I'm at 3.6 with 1.416 vCore and get around 65-68C Core Load with a 60-70 CFM undervolted Ultra Kaze.
