Since i got my new computer (quite a while ago) ive been experiencing skipping and jumping in the connection. This is mostly while playing games, it might happen while i am browsing on the internet, not sure though.
I am using a really old wireless adapter, i dont even know whats its name or model number is, i just know its made by inventel. I have a couple of other computers, is there a website that i can use to run a test or something to check my conection or or does anyone know what is causing my problem. If you need anymore information please ask.
its not letting me edit the last post for some reason so il post and example in this post cos i forgot:
An example is: I am moving along in the game, i can see everyone else moving the same speed alongside me. Suddenly they all stop, i see them go off the edge of the radar but i keep moving. Then about a second later, i jump back to where i was when they all stoped moving and they have all jumped ahead. Everyone else just see's me as standing still during this period, this can be very anoying as half the time it happens i come back to being dead or at a big disadvantage.
This happens randomly. It can happen from anywhere between every 30 seconds to 2 minuits.
do you use teamspeak? if you do right click your name once you've been connected for a while and select connection properties (or something like that) and it will show you your ping and packet loss %
really anything over 5% is really annoying.
hopefully its just something like a high ping, and that can be eased by selecting servers closer to you on the net, or i believe you can call your isp and have a moan (im sure someone else can give you more details on that)
I dont think its anything to do with ping, my internet is pretty good exept the skipping problem i have. I just want to know if its a problem to do with my adapter. Il probably buy a new one anyway, if this doesnt solve it i can ask my isp for a router.
