Desktop program icons will not open when clicked

Hello,
have windows vista & suddenly today the iconc won't open the propgrams when clicked on w/ mouse/pointer. Any ideas? worked fine first thing this moening so I assume I've done something to cause the problem

Try right clicking to open the desktop icons, click open.

Strangely enough, I am having the same problem and it started today -- the same day you are reporting similar issues. I also remember Vista downloading an update this morning -- problems ever since.

I have found if I restart my computer, my icons will open for a while. Otherwise, I have tried everything -- including right clicking. Right clicking also doesn't work.

I don't know what happened. After shutting down a couple times, my icons would work but then freeze up again. After shutting down and sitting overnight, the next morning they were up and running as normal. Temporary bug that just went away, I guess.
