I've been looking at a low cost thermaltake psu (430w for $40) and wondering if it will be enough to power the system I'm trying to build.
I tried a power supply calculator, and it's real interesting to me, I just wanted to hear from you guys, if this was a good option for the <$50 range on a PSU.
As for components, I'm thinking of using just one cd/dvd combo drive and one hard drive, both sata. An E4400, and 7600GT. Also 2gb of 6400 ddr2 ram (that cheap g.skill stuff on new egg with such nice ratings... $80 or $90 I think)
Motherboard I want to use is GA-P35 DS3R... which will allow me to upgrade in the future (when more money is available).
So do you think that PSU and Case are a good option? Or should I go for a higher quality one now, and save time switching them out later? Will that one be enough power for the components I want to run?
Just got that PSU today for a machine I'm putting together for a grandkid but he's 10 so no heavy use. If you can afford it, you'd be best going with a Tier 2 PSU.
I think it would be fine, but I would also look at the Silverstone ST-405 which is $50 and 400w. If you can stretch the budget a Corsair VX450 is $80 or an Antec Earthwatts 430w for $45 after 20 mail-in rebate.
