Ive got a XFX GeForce 8500GT; 256MB, 450MHz CoreClock, 400MHz Memory Clock. I need to over clock it a little (core clock to 509MHz, memory 480MHz),, i ve already tried using nTune, & works ok. GPU temperatures on default setting is about 65-70 C & after over clocking its about 70-75C. Im using default stock cooling systems, only fan air cooling.GPU fan is working @ max rpm i guess,gpu fan monitoring & intelligent controlling aint available, is it ok? im new to this overclocking stuff. please help.
My mainborad & processor are on default configurations, & its temp. are;
Cpu 45-55 C Mainboard 45-50 C ICH 70-75 C MCH 65-70 C
The temps are fine for the the video card, the CPU/Mainboard are hot if that is idle, but if it is load temps, it is all fine. Is your GPU completely stable through an artifact scan at those temps? If you don't know, then try downloading ATI Tool(and yes, it works great with nVidia cards too, use it with my 7900GS) and run an artifact scan to see if you have a stable overclock.
that CPU & Mainborad stats are on idling; but 100% load doesnt make a difference expet the fact 100% load for 5,6 Hours takes CPU to 55-60 C. thats all.
On abouve mentioned stats cpu rpm is about 900-1000RPM, & chasis outlet fan is about 1500-1700RPM.
Current GPU setting is Core 509MHZ; Memory 482MHz;
& i did artifact scan for about 10Minutes & GPU temperature reached 93 C max & stayed around 90-95C, but reported no errors. is that ok? over 90C means its bit hot; aint it? can boil water with few more C`s.. .@ GPU Idle its about 65-75C.
hey, i ran Artifact test on default 450/400Mhz setting & after 10mins, it reached a max of 91 C & stayed around 85-90C...in about 10secs aftr aborting the test it cools down to about 65-70 C..
Ive changed Fan Configuration ; Processor Fan 900-1000RPM Chasis Rear Exhaust Outlet Fan: Processor Zone; @ Max RPM; Not monitored Chasis Side Panel Bottom Intake Fan; 1600-2000RPM Hard Drive Cooler Fan @ Max RPM Not Monitored ; GPU Cooler Fan @ Max RPM; Not Monitored

i use riva tuner, and ive currently got an 8500 running at 690 MHZ (not sure about the memory clock im on a public comp ) with a stock soon to be overclocked e8400 and it runs almost flawlessly on high settings in gothic 3. tip, mount a fan on your gc (if it doesnt already have 1) it helps alot
"GPU fan is working at max I GUESS"?? use rivatuner or evga precision and increase fan speed.
TO HATMAN: i have a 7600GS that i overclocked 50% with no aftermarket coolers or fan speed modifications (adjusting the slider in rivatuner does nothing LOL) and the difference is most definitely noticeable! 15% increase in pcmarks... very noticeable in games.
