help building gamer pc for under a grand

I wish to build a new gaming pc as the one below is outdated and 3 years old. I have under $1,000 and hopefully can salvage the drives, case, monitor, and power. please advise w/ specific items; I'll research for deals etc. I like the Asus boards and AMD but am open to suggestions; especially w/ the cpu. thanks kindly.
