For those of you who have the 2900XT and are running bioshock on it. How does it look? I am running Boshock on it and I am not too pleased. On high graphic quality, monsters are different colors, I can see through walls, and I can't see the water. Anyone else with this card having this problem, or anyone with the 8800's?
i wansnt refering to mine,iv just seen in the gaming forums that apparently the 8800s are handeling nioshock very well, even the 320mb.have heard only praise from invidia users on this game, you are the first person iv heard from using the 2900.

Unless you are refering to just the DX10 cards, then you are wrong. I was the first to post about performance, which is just fine with my x1950pro.

Actually if you look at a thread in these forums about an 8800 ultra and vista you'll find a few nvidia card owners who can't run bioshock in vista, so
ati 2 (2 8800 owners in the aforementioned thread who can't get it working)
nvidia 1
i had a few problems (namely the occasional texture missing) then upgraded form the 7.8beta drivers to the 7.8 retails and downloaded the fix amd viola

ati2
nvidai2 (oh come on,so many people have posted about how their 8800s are running it just fine)
at this point it seams pretty even.although its a little irritating that we have to download a fix.i would like to see the benchmarks on this game, the 8800gts's and gtx vs the 2900...

Mine was running fine for the first half the game. Game crashed three times last night but I dont think it had anything to do with my graphics card. I run @ 1680x1050 and I went into the control panel to force anti-aliasing. Game runs very smooth barely ever goes below 40fps, goes as high as 90. (Max settings)

Surprisingly enough for me, my 1950xt (slightly OC'd), can handle this game at max settings without so much as a hiccup at 1440X900. (and looks absolutely fabulous too!)
I have an HD2900XT and it runs bioshock with max settings at 1680x1050 in vista 64 bit smooth as butter. I originally had problems with missing textures when I tried to run the game in DX10 but amd's hotfix fixed that. I agree with how it is slightly irritating to have to download a fix for a game. I would think that the game publisher would have a chat with the video card companies and help them get their drivers ready for the game. It's not a big deal though once you know what you have to do to fix your problems.

bioshock demo plays surprisingly nice and smooth on my pc (4000+, 2gig ram, 7950gt 512mb) at 1680x1050. everything on high but did not force aa or af in drivers. i was planning on getting if for my 360 since i figured my pc couldn't handle it well, but now am torn.

i have a x1900xtx and an e6320 at stock and i am running bioshock at max graphics @ 1680x1050. I havent installed the ati hotfix. So im not sure if its just a dx10 issue or not.
I think it is just a dx10 issue. When I played the demo with dx10 I was missing textures until I got the hotfix but in dx9 mode it was fine. On a side note, dx10 does look a bit better than dx9 in this game.
Well, textures look kinda blurry if you ask me on a nvidia 7800gs. Even with high quality mode on.
Should that mean nvidia -1?
First off, have you installed the newest drivers?
Secondly, try playing the game on an 8800GTS and then say that with a straight face. It's absolutely mind-blowing, and the performance is freakishly good.
Both companies released hot-fix drivers, and there's other little tweaks like the windows patches, etc.
Right now Biosshock seems to require a bit of work to make it work, but from both sides of the aisle people seem to think it's well worth it.
On my MRX700 the screen is all white-washed with the occasional block of colour, but the sound is GREAT !!
Too bad they coldn't make it SM2.0+, but that's easily fixed.

Its expected to have to install a few "fixes", I mean directX10 games are new and so are the cards.
What do you guys think it will look like on my 7600GT? Will I be able to play? Im downloading the demo right now.
Well, a 7800gs performs similar to a 7600gt, so if i was able to play it, you should too.

I'm not interested on getting such card at the moment, this one pleases me. I have nvidia drivers version 162.18.
So regardless the freakishly good performance in terms of fps, what am i missing about this crappy textures that seem to be always in low mode?

I am using a Sapphire HD 2900XT running an overclock of 818/878 in CCC with a C2D E6420 @ 2.13(stock) on Vista Home Premium 32bit. I'm using Catalyst 7.8 with the Bioshock hotfix drivers (which completely fixed all missing texture problems) and the game runs flawlessly at 1680x1050 in DX10, V-Sync off and all details maxed. Fraps puts my card steadily over 40 FPS and I usually see frame rates in the 50-70 range.
Make sure you update to the new Bioshock released ATI drivers and DL the latest SDK DX package (since windows update will not update it for you >< ). That should fix your isssues.
Bioshock is running fairly well on my 1800xt @ 1600x1200 w/ maxed settings. I will run FRAPS to see what fps I'm getting.
