I have an Asus P5WD2-E Premium chipset 975x, for some time and 1 GB Geil DDR2 667 Ultra kit 2x512MB CL3.

I have decided to get a 2 GB kit. Yesterday I bought a Kingmax 2x1GB DDR2 667 - KLCD48F-A8KL5 KIT and it doesn't boot the system. Today i got Aeneon 2x1GB 2Rx8 PC2-5300U-555-12 - AET76UD00-30DB97X, and it doesn't boot with this kit either.

All the settings in bios are set on AUTO so theoretically the bios should select the best rates automatically.

What should I do ? Try other producers of RAM, or there is something i have to set at my motherboard in bios?

Thank u in advance

the problem is that i cannot even boot up to bios with these 2 new kits even if I put only one stick at a time. Well the system boots up until one point but there is no image, like it is cutting of the signal to the monitor. With the old geil ram i do not have any problem. The bios version is the latest 0604.

I still have my P5WD2-E premium in my new mobos box.

Granted, it doesnt support C2D...but if I ever have the need to put a reliable board in a unit for family, I wouldnt hesitate to put that in their, regardless of support.

I used it fine for 18 months without EVER updating the BIOS.

Most reliable board I ever had. I just wish they would have been able to update it to work with C2D :(

Anyway...I used OCZ the entire time I had it. 6 sticks total...all DDR2-800. $61 a pair on Newegg now.

are u shure that this motherboard P5WD2-E Premium does not support C2D ???

because on the asus website and also in the manual it says:

CPU

LGA775 socket for Intel® Pentium 4/Celeron CPU
Support Intel Pentium® Processor Extreme Edition & Intel Pentium® D Processor
Support Intel next generation 65nm CPU - isn't this the C2D ??
Compatible with Intel® 05B/ 05A and 04B/04A processors
Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology ready

thx
