Hello,

I have a hard drive with 2 partitions. I had to reformat the c drive to reinstall windows. After I did that, I ran setup on the win xp cd and it asked me to create a new partition. after I did that went further with setup, i then got the following message....This disk does not contain a windows xp compatible partition to continue installing xp, return to partition selection screen, create w xp part on disk above.

I did this several times with no luck. I shut down the machine to rebrun setup and my data drive D, now is listed as c drive and windows setup is looking to install operating system on that drive. drive d does not have enough space for a xp OS. Seems to me I need to get to dos prompt and switch drive numbers. How to do? also, after i do that, i am faced with trying to load XP on a partition thats not xp compatible. how to do that?

Greetings:
Is the HDD verified to be okay? What was installed last?
Is the Hard drive set to CS or Primary Master ???? Make Sure

Do you have any IDE hard drive installed in one of the optical drive bays ???
If you do Unplug that drive Then try to Reinstall winXP
Good luck..
