Grrr

can't find info i need anywhere! Trying very hard to work out best card my aging psu (305watt, 22amp Dell) can run n can't find the psu requirements of graphics cards i've identified anywhere. Newegg.com, pc world n others very sporadic - giving this info for a few cards but not for most. Tried saphire n ati website also.

Any clues???

specifically looking for info on:

x1950pro
x1900xt
8600 gt or gts
7900 gs or gt

or similar cards

help! please! Mike :)

Yes its bl**** anoying isnt it there are people on here who know which needs how much hold on a bit and they will turn up.
Things are not as easy as they appear it depends on the psu as well there are good and bad ones most people work on amps but if you can find the wattage requirements some where instead and divide by twelve that will give you the amps.
My initial feeling is that the 8600 will the 7900 may and the 1900s wont.
As i said wait for the experts to turn up :)

I found a list of wattages the other day, but forgot to bookmark it. Google for something like "List of Graphics Card Power Usage" and you should find it. The 7900GS I remember, as I own one, is 45W the 7900GT is a bit more, but not too much higher. The X1950XT is over 100, the X1950Pro is somewhere around 80. I'm not sure about the 8600s.

I don't think he is looking for the power consumption, but instead the +12V rail rating requirements. If manufacturers website do not have anything, then it will require some digging. I will see what I can do.

edit:
single 2 in SLI
7900 GTX 450W w/ 12V @ 22A 550W w/ 12V @ 30A
7900 GT 350W w/ 12V @ 20A 450W w/ 12V @ 26A
7600 GT 350W 450W w/ 12V @ 22A

That is all I can find for now, but I will keep looking for the ATI based cards.
