Initial Software

What are the programs that everyone likes to use during the initial setup of their new pc? I'm looking to make a dvd on my old computer so i don't have to download everything once the pc is built.

I like starting fresh .
First thing I do is play with the windows settings for a bit, then install Firefox and remove IE (or whatever part you can remove).
Avast! for antivirus
Some spyware removal software
Winrar
Songbird or iTunes
Trillian for chat
PDF reader
VLC media player
Picasa
...

Acronis Trueimage is awesome for making "restore" dvd's, they are bootable and it only takes 9 minutes to restore my 11 gig install, and it fits on 1 dvd !

any other suggestions? like what about monitoring software for OC or fan controlling software?

Mobo drivers (chipset, LAN, sound, etc.)
Vid drivers
rodent drivers (G5)
UPS monitoring software
XP updates
mobo may have o/c and/or monitoring software, otherwise Speedfan is ok for monitoring
McAfee anti-virus (only because my ISP provides it free)
Spybot Search and Destroy.
I install Acrobat just for the sake of the "standard," but disable AcroTray and any other bloat with it.
I've used Firehand Ember for managing media like pictures and .wav files for years, but their site has been down for a while now , so perhaps I should choose something else in the future.
Trillian for IM.
Printer drivers (if any)
Restore Favorites and settings from previous PC.
