Please forgive this newbie question:

Infrant's ReadyNAS boasts about being able to add disks dynamically to their RAID 5. They call this "X RAID", and it is a very attractive feature to me, although their NV+ doesn't have the best performance stats.

Is the ability to add disks to a RAID 5 without rebuilding it from scratch a feature that Infrant has a monopoly on? Or is this something that can be done with every RAID 5?

Thanks
Josh

Depends on the controller, some onboard wont do it. Majority of dedicated cards that support RAID-5 will. Just depends.
