What should I do?

I have a serious problem with my video card. The problem is that it
restarts during playing games. I think the problem is from the video card temperature, because the pipes and heat sink make it cool get so hot that I cannot touch them.
Though, I can solve this by using a very big fan or reducing the
VGA clock from 650MHz (default frequency) to 400MHz but I think there
is something wrong with it.
Another question, in your idea can I solve that by flashing the bios or update driver
and where can I get the bios file?
graphic card: MSI 7900 GTO

Maybe the problem is your power supply. As far as where you would get the updated BIOS version from, no one could possibly know until you list your specs and mention which motherboard you have.

no the power supply isn't problem.its 580w and i think its enough for my system.

That's a common symptom of both a weak power supply or bad system memory.

The latest BIOS can be found on the ASUS website listed at your MB's site there.

At what temperature does the problem happen? The Nvidia monitor should be able to tell you. VGA cards should be good to 100c.

Are you certain that the vga fan is working?

How good is your case cooling? Try running with the side of the case removed, and a house fan blowing at the innards.

yeah, the fan is working.

the vga temperature is normal I think the problem is from somewhere else in the vga card just look at the pictures.
I've removed the both sides of the case.

I think these are the voltage regulators (vram related) and from what i understand all 7900 series have them run very very hot.
On the other hand, yours have a heatsink there (the 'black pearl' you mention) - check to see if the airflow is normal and if the card is somewhat (few months) old then consider removing and cleaning the cooler.

If your video memory is overclocked then it might be overheating although it usually freezes and THEN restarts the pc. Do you get any artifacts or ANY kind of funny behaviour right before the restart?

One way to find out is to place (or have someone point) a fan there as you game and see if it still behaves the same.

Might not be related to that...

Run memtest86+ to rule out problems with the memory.

I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet, but have you tried using ATI tool or some other program to increase the fan speed? that might just solve your problem. And it looks like the air will pass over the memory heatsink too. So it should cool it down.

He already said the vga temp is normal (although the vram temp is a different thing, hence my post earlier) so i'm willing to hold him accountable for that statement :sol:
