Mostly a marketing ploy, you know...to get more money. The memory could also test better than other modules and then matched in sets. I really doubt they are "handpicked" though, a machine probably does the work.
To a degree your getting the cream of the crop(tested most compatable....as well as achieve more performance)...ram that agrees with your system and has had reviews as being a good oc'r on your mobo, now thats hand picked =D.gl
Hey guys, forgive my bad memory these days,,, but what's handpicked RAM again?
(looking at the 2GB Corsair Dominator 1066)
ThanksDX
Actually, our Dominator line and XMS line is hand tested. A human puts them into a MOBO, tests them, then packages them so that the matched pairs stay together.
LOL.......Is The dominator series ALWAYS MicronD9?
They worth the premium over reg XMS?
(120$ vs 160$)
SO basically...handpicked means handtested matching pairs that suit each other?
Either going to buy a Asus P5K Deluxe mobo or Gigabyte P35 DS3R now, or wait for X38...Does this ram pair well with these boards? (OCing a Q6600 on Thermalright cooler to ~3.2GHz)
Currently, ALL Dominator is Micron D9. Currently, I'd say yes, the Dominator is worth the $40 difference in the example you gave due to the ICs.
As far as "hand picked", I don't know in what context others use it. But, I outlined I our testing above. So for some, that may mean handpicked. Different companies do different amounts or levels of validation. I believe ours to be the most comprehensive in the industry due to the hand testing of EVERY pair.

So, they are verified to post on a motherboard before being shipped?
Ok, BTW is the price going to come down for your TWIN2X2048-6400C4PRO? And will there ever be a DDR3 version of this?
I doubt any DDR2 is going to be lower than it has been over the past 3 months or so. And, I have not heard anything yet about the future of our PRO model RAM and DDR3.
