Its been awhile since I have delved into the arcane knowledge of video cards, to try and determine my best bet, so I would appreciate any advice ...

Lately, prices at Future Shop (Canada) have dropped drastically on graphics cards in the price range I want to pay.

These are my choices:

Radeon X1950 Pro 256mB PCI-E $150
Radeon HD 2600XT 512mB $200
EVGA 8600 GTS Superclocked 256 mB $200

Now, before you ask, yes I have checked out Tom's heirarchy chart and other articles... but what confuses me is 1) the RAdeon HDxxx's are not on the list, and 2) I know the x1950 pro comes with GDDR4 memory, but the HD 2600xt doesn't say ( I assume DDR2 or some such)

Does double the memory of questionable speed, make enough difference to choose the HD over the x1950??

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Edit:

I will be wanting the new card for games mostly (BF2142), but nothing truly cutting edge. I do download a lot of video, but generally watch it on a Divx DVD player.

The X1950 Pro will beat the snot out of both a 2600XT or an 8600 GTS when it comes to gaming.

Look for the x1950xt, you should be able to find one under $200! Just make sure you have a good PSU.
