As you would be able to assume I am building a new computer. I've done a little trimming to try and get my price down a little (less ram temporarily, 2900xt -> 8800gts, few others), however I wanted to have some people look it over before I went and actually made the purchase because I know there might be better deals, or I might have overlooked something.

Case: COOLER MASTER Centurion 534 - Was going to get a more expensive case but this is something I cut down on also. I made sure the video card and heatsink would fit properly.

$49.99

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813128050
$129. 99

Video Card: EVGA 8800GTS 320MB - Wanted to grab a 8800GTS 640 or 2900xt but not sure I can pull the rest of the cash together.

$279.99

PSU: OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXS SLI ATX12V 700W - I feel like I could pick something cheaper up in place of this. http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817341002
$139.99

CPU: Q6600 - Probably pick this up from ClubIT instead of Newegg to insure G0 stepping.

$294.99 ($299 at ClubIT...close enough)

RAM: SUPER TALENT 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) - Wanted 4gigs for the future, but it will have to wait, perhaps someone wants to recommend different RAM also.

$93.99

HDD : SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series 500GB - Not sure, never owned a samsung hdd but it seems to be decent. Perhaps someone will have a recommendation on this also.

$119.99

He atsink: Tuniq Tower 120 - I was looking into a few other heatsinks, however I know the TT has a good performance record. Perhaps something similar that's a little less hefty? I know in the past I've read about the size of this bad boy. I don't move my computer THAT often however it does take a car trip every few months.

$54.99

DVD Burner: LG w/o lightscribe - To be honest, I could care less about lightscribe because I wouldn't bother using it anyways (unless you decide to point one out at the same price, because it's

$27.99

Subt otal: $1,191.91

To give you some more info, my current computer is an AMD XP 3000+ with a Radeon 9800 that has been keeping me happy for a few years now, so this is a big upgrade for me. If I have to spend a little more then I will do it (say knock off $50, then get a 2900XT over the 8800GTS). If you can find a nice way for me to do that then that would be great. If not, then any better deals would be appreciated just as much.

Added: Per what mcg said, I am essentially trying to stay around the same price, going up to maybe $1250 pre-shipping. I was trying to get a better video card but if it's not possible then I will survive. Gotta head out for a while, i'll check back later.

Thanks

My initial readthrough only left me with one glaring issue. The Tuniq tower is listed for $54.99 in the link you provided. I'll add more input if I see anything that needs addressing.

First off, the last time I checked people were still getting B3 Q6600s at Newegg. Also, after the $35 MIR (putting it at $104.99) the OCZ powersupply you had is a pretty good deal. For your hard drive, the Samsung looks like a decent choice although you might consider the Seagate 7200.10 for the same price. The Samsung looks to have a little higher average read speeds than the Seagate 7200.10 although the Seagate has a decently faster random access time which will probably make more of a difference in most cases. Also the Seagate has a 5 year warranty. Other than that it seems to basically ok. It wouldn't hurt to get more opinions than just mine though.
Oh, also it wouldn't hurt if you put in a total price for the build, and whether you were trying to shoot for a lower price or more performance.

Unless you are going to overclock the Tuniq tower 120 will not be worth it, that will recover the $50 your looking for.

Id be more inclined to go with a seagate or WD than a samsung IMO

also IMO id go with some corsair or patriot for RAM you can get good 800mhz chips with good latency with both brands.

After a quick glance, I'd like to add the following:

Your system will never fully utilize 700W, not even close to that, therefore could save $40 on your power supply (not counting the rebate) and go with Corsair 520HX, it's a great, quiet, very reliable unit which will power everything in your system with ease. ZipZoomFly sells them for $105 before rebate with free shipping:

Another $40 dollars can be saved on your HDD if you go with the 320GB Seagate, they are also very reliable and offer 5 year warranty.

With the money saved you can afford the basic 640MB version of 8800 GTS and even throw in some Arctic Silver 5 paste for your Tuniq tower :)

Good luck.
