I don't see any compatibility list for the Toshiba A45-S120 ...

specs:
Intel Celeron 2.6ghz
256MB PC2700 DDR333 Modules (from CPU-Z ..it says manufactured by Samsung)
Intel Extreme Graphics (16MB onboard)

I'm thinking of adding an extra 512MB of RAM but I've heard some people having RAM not being detected in their laptops...

so is there any RAM that I can get for under 28 dollars (after shipping)...preferrably newegg that's compatible with the A45-S120?

it is called sodimm ram. any ddr 333 will work with it as long as it is sodimm.

if that's the case ..what's the issue with certain people putting certain sodimm modules into their laptop and them not detecting it?

some DDR sodimm modules won't work in specific DDR laptops for some reason...(at least from the newegg reviews ..that's what i heard...)

Kingston has a compatability service that will match most any laptop with the appropriate module. Other mfg's may also offer a similar service, but quite a few of the laptop mfg's use kingston.

Newegg reviews aren't worth a tinker's dam as the reviews are written by unqualified 'eggsperts'.

apparently the RAM they suggest is a bit out of reach for my budget range ..I'm aiming for around 28-30 after shipping and i don't want to spend time with incompatibility problems because school's starting and I need to have the laptop ASAP.
