I'm trying to buy myself a new graphics card, and I am not a fanboy of nvidia/ati, although I've never had an ATI card, I just want a decent card. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I play the occasional game and the upgrade from my 7600GT wouldn't hurt.

So, should I get the x1950PRO or the HD2600XT?

I'm looking to play games at high on 1280x960 with 30+ FPS, with no AA or AF, as I don't care for those.

What should my choice be?

Thanks,
Thom

with no aa i would go for the 2600 xt. you get hdmi and dx8. 1950 will get you better fps but not that much with no aa.

I love my ati card. I have the x1900xt. I do think the pic quality is better than on my nvidia 6-series card.

You ment Dx10 not 8, right?

And the 1950Pro is, to keep it simple, a whole lot better than any 2600 card.

2600 is not very good, especially compared to the 8800or the 2900. Either get the 1950 if you CANNOT wait or wait till you can afford a 2900 or 8800 when the new cards hit.

You wont be disappointed with a 2600xt... and with no AA or AF it should come close to the 1950pro anyway.

For me, its extra features are enough to purchase it. That and Its a lot quiter, draws a lot less power, and looks a lot nicer.

Voting for x1950pro, just remember to make sure your PSU can handle it. Don't be fooled by the wattage that is says it is, sometimes (on OEM PSU's) they will label them high, but in reality they are a POS PSU. What PSU make and model do you have? Hope you have plenty of amps on the 12V rail to run the 1950pro?

1950pro is a faster card for games full stop. 2600xt will decode hd video better with less over head on the cpu. thats just about all its good for.

You got to go with the X1950Pro. A 2600 is not going to give you much of a boost over what you already have. It is not going to be that effective of an upgrade.

The X1950 is going to be the only card between the two that is going to give you a very meaningful difference in game play.

If you are going to get a DX10 card wait until the 2nd generation of DX10 cards come out. Never buy verison 1.0 of anything.
