XP won't boot in new computer

It worked fine in the old computer, but in the new one, it reboots every time it gets to processr.sys during startup. My XP cd is too old and scratched up to work anymore. Is there another way to fix this problem?

  1. It sounds like you moved the WinXP HDD from one computer to another. If it is not exactly (or really, really close) to the original motherboard, it will not boot because its settings are for the hardware on the other board. You could attempt a repair install, but you would have to boot from and use your XP CD. If you're trying to move an OEM version of XP, MS will not be very happy with you when you try to re-activate it.
