I finally took the leap and started buying the components for my first build. Gigabyte P35 DQ6, Raptor 150, WD 750, XION Mid tower. Newegg shipped them and they're sitting beside me. Antec truepower Quattro 850 came yesterday.
Zalman 9700 is on its way from California. I'm joining the 6850 group. GTX or GTS (is the big brother worth $200 more). My final decision is the hardest and that is MEMORY. I like the Crucial Ballistix Tracer 1066 over the Corsair Patriot Extreme 800. But you folks seem to favor the DDR 800 family. I'm starting with 2 gigs. Is it because the 800 has history? Many have written that the 1066 isn't worth the money. Gaming is important. Thanks for your help.

Question: Will you be overclocking? If not then the DDR2-800 should be sufficient. It's mostly about if you will do any overclocking or not. If the 1066 isn't too much more then go for the 1066. Both Corsair and Cruciel are good so just pick what better suits your budget. DDR2-800 is what I have paired with my E6850 and I can even overclock a little bit.

I will be making my first voyage into over clocking with this machine. It almost seems "safe" with this setup. I want the power, even if I never use it. Crucial has an excellant rep, but I think it's the LED's with the Tracer.

Crucial also has DDR 800 Tracer's which can easily be overclocked to 1066 with 5-5-5-15 timmings and might save you some cash as well.
