As noted in my signature, I have 2gb of G.Skill ram. I wish to add a third gig, in dual channel, with a 2*512mb kit.

Should I not do this at all and use 2*1Gb? I have 32bit Vista, so it won't address the 4th gb...

What do I have to consider for the 2*512mb kit? Timings? Brand?

No you can still go with 3 gb but be aware that not all programs will benefits from it (but I think you already know that and have a program that want/need the extra gb ;) ).

As for which brand timing I suggest you follow pavel- advice. Using the same brand and same timing is the best way to make sure there won't be incompatibilities.

Just match up your current memory and go for a 2x512 kit with the same timings. I don't recommend mixing brands but it can be done.
