I would like to build a computer capable of producing high quality high res images in photoshop. Talking A1 at 300dpi with multiple layers and effects.

When only focusing on RAM, will I see a performance improvement going 32GB instead of 16GB?

More about : ram photoshop

There will be some, but may not be too noticeable. I'd put the money towards a faster CPU and maybe a SSD drive.

CPU with hyper threading would boost performance a lot if you don't already have one. i7 2600k and 2700k are prime choices.

Yes u will. Create 24GB RAMdisc and use it as a scratch.

Its much faster than SSD and and it is easier on the system.

But U will benefit from fast CPU, 2600K is the best choice for the money.
