Wireless Internet connection problem

Hi, a couple months ago my laptop Internet no longer would work. I would connect to the home network and it even showed that it was connected, however when I opened an Internet browser the browser could not display the webpage. Recently I have been using a different laptop but due to other reasons I no longer have access to that laptop. I have tried almost everything to get it working yet nothing seems to work. My family has multiple laptops however I am the only one with this issue. I am running on windows vista and the laptop I have used in place of mine was also running on windows vista. One laptop that also works on XP, however due to the fact on laptop that runs on vista leads me to believe the issue is not involved with vista.
