Hi.

This is the build I hope to get soon, Im in need of a little expert advice and recommendations. :(

MOBO: ASUS M2N: DUAL DDR II, S-ATA, x16VGA, 3PCI
CPU: EITHER Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 OR AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ (Need help here)
GPU: 320MB GeForce 8800GTS
HDD: 320GB Serial ATA II HDD with 8MB cache 7200RPM
RAM: 2048MB CORSAIR DDR2 667MHz
SOUND: 6 Channel Realtek ALC600
PSU: FSP Bluestorm II 500W
COOLING:22dBA AMD CPU cooler

All with Vista. I hope to use this mainly as a high end gaming machine, and also for general use (word processing / internet use etc). One thing I would like to know is which CPU you consider best for gaming, and also whether any parts are unsuitable or not good enough.

Thanks in advance.

Go for Intel's Core 2 Duo 6750, Asus or Gigabyte's P35's are both great mobo's. As for the GPU if you can wait till November then I would. Also if you can afford a 8800 GTX then go for it that will be good for sometime. For the PSU I'd go for 600W+. Your HDD should have 16meg cash 7200-10,000rpm. Good luck on you build.

Also, any suggestions for a sound card? Im not really looking for a great card, just something which will play games and music to a reasonable audio quality. Thanks.

Some changes i've looked at:

MoBo: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P
PSU: OCZ StealthXStream 600W
RAM: Geil Ultra DDR2 2.0GB PC6400
COOLING: not sure :)

Do you think I would need better cooling, if you could recommend any moderately priced units that would be great. Concerning OCing, I think I might OC moderately but not pushing the limits as such (this is really the first real pc experience im having).

Thanks again.

ZEROtherm BTF90 is an amazing cooler for moderate overclocking. PSU is still overkill but better safe then sorry. I would go with Crucial for RAM but that's because I was brainwashed by their company

I thought the same thing when I started ordering my PC parts. Almost everything (97%) is designed to the ATX standard and will fit if your PC case allows it. My Tuniq Tower 120 is a pound and I only have about 1/4 - 1/2 an inch of clearence on my side panel.
