LiteOn dvdrw driver problems or bad drive?

I have a liteon dvdrw drive and its been working great since I bought it in May but now it wont show up have reinstalled the drivers but I keep getting this message

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.


is this a driver issue or have I just got a bad drive now please help I have to play Battlefield 2142 before the withdraw symptoms get worse.

its an odd bug i see every so often - so far i have found no fix other then to totally reinstall windows (not a windows repair as the issue carrys across - half way through setup it will try accessing the cdrom which isnt working from the bug) - iv seen it in desktops and laptops.
