would you be satisfied with the mobo/cpu running your internet connection or is a seperate card the faster answer?

I simply use the integrated connection on the motherboard.

What I do look for is a 1000Mbps transfer rate (GigaBit) 'cause I have two PCs and I transfer compressed DivX files from my primary PC to my HTPC some times 5GB - 10GB at a time. If both PCs have GigaBit transfer rates, then that means the files will transfer faster.

Gigabit will not have any affect on your internet connection unless you can afford to pay for a Gigabit transfer rate service.

Agreed, Killer is a complete waste of money and only good for showcasing the fact that you have more money than sense. Just use your motherboard, it's more than good enough

Motherboard gigabit ethernet here, but some that are great are intel or netgear pci cards.
