Here is my problem. I am on a very limited budget and I cannot decide on what is better.

E2160 + Ultra 120 = $150
E6550 = $175

I do not want to set speed records with this overclock just get a bit more power. I live in South Carolina and it gets pretty hot here. My case is not the best Cent 5. I will add some extra fans in it and try to route all the cabling for better airflow.

Which do you think will provide better proformance?

Other Info:

GA-P35-DS3R
Ballistix 2GB DDR2-800
8800GT (as long as the have good benchy at a good price)

E2160 can overclock nicely to 3-3.2ghz with air cooling, however the e6550 will have more cache (2mb vs 1mb I believe...) which can translate to a little better performance.

If you're on a very limited budget and its hot, it may be worth going with the e2160 with cooler. I'm doing the same thing with a e2180 b/c of my small budget too.

Here is a link to the tom's article where they OC the e2160 - $89 cpu OC to 3.2ghz

Don't forget in your thought process that if you decide to upgrade at some point you may be able to reuse the fan, so the money isn't just gone.
