So I was an idiot and I accidentally selected the regular format instead of quick format while installing windows on the machine i just built and it's taking forever. My question is this: does anyone know if it would ok for me to just hit the reset button in the middle of the formatting process and select quick format the next time? I didn't think it would be a problem but i don't want to take any chances, so any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

No it would not be OK. Take a deep breath and let it format. The full format is a good idea when first using the drive, it allows it to run a checkdisk and mark any bad sectors. This will minimize the chance of lost data in the future.
