AMD adds new flagship Athlon 64 X2 processors 5400+, 5600+

AMD today launched new dual-core mainstream processors in order to regain at least some of its competitiveness in the segment of higher-end mainstream processors. The new 5400+ and 5600+ bring an increase of clock speed and are squarely aimed at Intel's Core 2 Duo E6600 and E6700 processors. Read more

AMD to release first 65 nm processors in December

AMD will keep to its promise to ship its first 65 nm processors by the end of this year. The limited supply of the new chip generation, code-named "Brisbane", will be flanked by 90 nm dual-core CPUs with increased clock speed and more L2 cache: Three new processors, led by the Athlon 64 X2 6000+, will bring AMD closer to the performance of Intel's Core 2 Duo. Hello Everybody!

Does someone have, or can point me to, 64bit (OS and Application) Benchmarks, that compare Core2 Duo E6750 and Athlon X2 6000+?

I already know that the 32bit performace of the E6750 is better and it needs less power, but since I want to run a 64bit Linux I want to know whose better there.

And by the way, why are there so few 64bit benchmarks out there?

Thanks,

Kan

Because so few people are running 64-bit at the moment.
Even on the Linux side.

However, On Windows Benchmarks the Core2Duo still beats the Athlon X2 clock for clock on XP-64 bit as well.

The E6750 should also clock about 25% higher ontop of the faster per clock results.

everyone should run a i7 920 at 4GHz

E6750 totally blows away the amd 6000
it runs very smooth with the stock cooler at 3.4ghz and very low temps

its a no brainer - until amd's new stuff comes out i would only conisder there mid chips which clock to 2.8ghz - the 6000 is very un-overclockable and hot!

Real world visual difference i saw none between these two chips in person. You can join the bandwagon and go intel or go with the underdog and save some dough and get awesome results with the 6000+.

X2 6000+ @ 3.2GHz..3Gb DDR2..XFI..ATI 4870 1GB..Raptors 150Gb x 2 in Raid 0..1920 x 1200 max settings..& Blu Ray
...Life is good!!!

the only way you will notice the difference is if you are overclocking, then the E6750 is your obvious choice. Otherwise the 6000+ is quite a bit cheaper and runs very similar.
