i am using winxp,i hav bought an seagate HDD 2.5" 80GB external hard drive USB2.0,
my problem is ,my drive appears in device manager under "disk drives" as "Generic USB hard disk"
but not getting icon for that in "my computer"or "explorer"

any body ........

I have the same issue with my 500GB USB 2.0 drive. Here is what I have to do to make it work each time I use it:

1. Unplug the usb cable from the computer.
2. Turn the drives power switch on.
3. Wait 10 secs to let the drive spin up.
4. Plug the usb cable into the pc.

Then it will work. At least this is what I have to do.. I hate it but that is what I have to do. I even rma'ed the first one I got, then when the replacement came, it did the same thing.
