I purchased a 32 inch flat screen Toshiba 32HFX71 in June of 2002. Six months
after the warranty expired it broke down. (Fly back transformer, jungle IC
chip, whatever that is, regulators and 3 transistors). Since Toshiba didn't have
one of the parts in stock, an IC chip #23906077, I had to wait eight weeks for
the set to come back. Now I am having another problem with it - the black
levels seem to change intermittantly (it might be brightness getting brighter
intermittantly -it's hard to tell). Could this problem be related to these
repairs? If so I could get them to repair it again under their warranty. If
not I'd rather call in someone else as the previous repair shop was slow,
unresponsive and expensive ($500+Cdn.)
Another problem I'm having is screen geometry - a slight bulbousness which makes
the top of the screen look compressed horizontally as credits roll. Can anyone
offer advice?
