considered going with asus m2n4-sli mobo, athlon64 x2 5200+ cpu, 2 gigs of ddr2-800 ram and club3d 7600gt graphic card.

i am wondering, will it be better to switch to asus p5b mobo and c2d e4400 cou? price difference is very small.

reason i am considering switching is that i have seen that some people have problems with configs like 1st i wrote

you can get a 570 board for less http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813138059 with stuff that asus p5b does not have.

The 500 sli is locked at x8 x8

what you should do is try to step up on that graphics card, which is really limiting your PC, try to get a 7900GS or 7950GT if its nvidia, or a X1950 Pro or X1950XT if it's ati.

1st one is good for Non SLI setup. If you have to have SLI than the 2nd would be fine. If your not using high resolutions, than the SLI won't be needed, but if you have high resolutions than the SLI might be for you. I would just make sure I use a good video card and not worry about SLI (its over rated).

anyway, i never considered using SLI.
so first one is better...kewl......and also, i considered using 1024x768 resolution at gaming.

Reply to ToNi-

At that resolution you can get a better video card, assuming you have the budget for it. Not sure what your budget is for this system. More budget means better overall system :)

Reply to lunyone

something like €800 for whole system

get a 570 one even if you don't need SLI and the 500 SLI is locked at x8 x8.

The 570 does have TCP/IP Acceleration, NVIDIA FirstPacket™ technology, NVIDIA DualNet® technology and Teaming.

what about nFor430 chip?

WOW!!! :o
You can get a good system for that kind of $!!!!
What parts were you going to need for that kind of $? Are you re-using keyboard, mouse, monitor (what resolution you using), OS, etc?

everything new, including 19'' lcd monitor, keyboard and all that stuff.

oh, sry for double post but this should be my new build

asus m2n or m2n4-sli mobo (can`t decide)
amd athlon64 x2 5200+ cpu
2 gigs of ddr2-800 ram
club3d 7600gt graphic card
19'' lcd wide monitor
dvd-rw
cool case
keyboard, mouse, headphones....

all together comes like 1500 KM (€750), but €800 is my limit

Reply to ToNi-

Drop that graphics card, already told you once, the 7600GT is not a good choice anymore. Try aiming for a X1950 Pro, 7900GS, 7950GT, or X1950XT.

*hmmm*.......7600GT is €122........X1950 pro is €175.....and also i have seen some benchmarks and i can tell that 7600GT can run games of today at high/max settings, and i think that it will be able to run crysis on at least medium settings, 800x600 resolution. that is enough for me, as long as game is playable, i have no complaints. i am not really graphics enthusiast...

Reply to ToNi-

You must've looked on some really farfetched tests, because the 7600GT can't run today's games at high settings, it can run at around low-medium. Not only that, but the X1950Pro is about 35% faster than the 7600GT overall.

Here's a X1950 Pro for 70 euros:

Here is a processor speed comparison. The prices are old.

just don`t forget that my limmit is €800
if i want to get some great video card that goes through limit, i will have to take something else cheaper, for example monitor

Reply to ToNi-

You should go for a cheaper CPU, rather than a cheaper video card. Something like X2 4400+

emp is right, if your building a gaming pc on a budget, the real bang for your buck(or euro) is GPU not CPU. All things being equal I prefer nvidia over ATI (b/c of their terrible linux support), and I can say from personal experience that the 7900GS is a great card.
I'd take a system with a X2 4200(Brisbane) and a 7900GS over a system with a X2 5200(Windsor) and 7600GT any day.

Reply to ryan7107

I voting for lower CPU and better GPU. I would get the x1950pro and lower cpu for the $. You won't notice a difference between a x2 5200 and a x2 4200 game wise.

Reply to lunyone

ok......i considered that.....but check mobo......my main question....m2n or m2n4-sli......they have nvidia chips, and i know that i have read somewhere that, when nvidia chip recognizes ati graphic card, it downlocks it or something like that.....

Reply to ToNi-

and while researching, i have seen that x1950 pro requires minimum 450W to run, and my system has 400W........but 7600GT requires 350W....

Reply to ToNi-

You have 400W...is that on a PSU that came with your case? Those tend to be short on durability and long on pyrotechnics. If at all possible, choose a PSU from Tier-3 or better from this list:
http://www.tomswiki.com/page/Tiere [...] ngs?t=anon

A newegg link isn't going to be useful to you in the UK, but there are some relatively inexpensive FSP units that should meet your needs while providing sufficient quality.

What games do you want to run? If you buy your graphics card from EVGA and decide you need better, within 90 days you can "step up" once, by paying just the difference (but of MSRP, not street price) between the card you have and the better card you want. I'd be very skeptical on a game like Crysis, but on my old X2 3800+ I played a lot of Guild Wars and UT2K4 at 1024x768 on a 7600GT and was satisfied. When I went to 1440x900 however, it wasn't quite as nice so I got a 7900GS for my new e6750 rig; that's been great.

I do, however, agree with emp and others that for a gamer it is better to sacrifice the CPU a little to get a better GPU.

have in mind that i am not buying computer just for games
i edit photos, videos and all stuff like that. that is why i took 5200+ (it has 2 mb L2 cache, 4800+ and those before have 1 mb)

also, my 400W psu comes with case, and this is case : http://www.frontier.com.tw/htm/pro [...] INOBI.htm#

note : my 7600GT is not from evga, i considered getting it from Club3D

Reply to ToNi-

so will anyone answer my most important question?

m2n or m2n4-sli? (with 5200+ and 7600gt)

Reply to ToNi-

still nothing? :(

Reply to ToNi-

M2N is AM2 NVIDIA nForce 430
m2n4-sli is nforce 500 SLI x8 x8 no x16 x1
m2n-e is 570 sli get that one or a 590 one.
