Since a month or so I've bought myself a new case and watercooling. I have 5*120mm fans which cool my wc and mobo really good at a almost no noise at all (all on a fancontroller). I can even put the fans off and still my cpu etc are cooled well enough.

This is the exact reason why I bought this wc-setup, I like to keep my computer on at night and I like my computer dead silent as well when I need to study.

And here comes the problem, I bought an OCZ Modstream 520w for its silent operation.. but it's not that silent at all. It is the one part in my computer which makes a noise and it really annoys me :).

Anyone here can help me with this? What fan should I replace the original with and are there any important things I need to take in consideration?

Thx

Important things to take into consideration: It will void your warranty.

If you are dead set on replacing the fan go with a S-Flex. But if I were you I'd get the Enermax 500 Liberty or a Corsair 530 Watt. Both are probably the quitest power supplies you can get. Or get the Antec Phantom that produces no noise at low loads.

I don't think your PSU would like it if you tinkered with its fan; depends on the heat it produces under load. You could trim the fan with a potentiometer, but for that you'd have to open the PSU up and that's not everybodys thing...

As long as your psu doesn't get too hot there isn't really a problem.. The fan used isn't a really good one, it doesn't have that much of airflow and it makes a 'flickering' sound, even at really low speeds. I already opened the psu, changing the fan doesn't seem to be that hard.
